Do Vending Machines Charge Sales Tax?
The prices seem pretty high sometimes.

You are paying tax as part of your purchase price in a vending machine. The operator must pay to the authority.

I think that if sales tax is payable on an item it would have to be collected, and that disclosed somewhere on the machine. Many states do not charge sales tax on food items.
High prices on vending machine items usually take into account the distribution costs of the items (i.e. delivering and loading them into the machines).

no they would tell you need to pay tax.

I believe the tax is taken into account in the price of the item sold.
