It is not dead. It will be around forever. One out of every 100 machines makes a profit. Sometimes it is because of the location; sometimes it is the product. A snack machine in a huge office building can make money. Unfortunately, some of the building tenants or owners want to “share” part of your profits and make you pay them to place the machine.
For most investors, the vending machines lose money. They don’t earn enuf to pay off the original purchase..

Location matters the most for a vending machine business. If yu’re in a busy area like an office district or university, it can be profitable. If not, then the margins can be low. You basically need good volume with this kind of business.
