Well depending on the manufacturer of the machine and the company that bought it, they can have a heater. It is an extra option and many companies don’t buy that option because so many machines are placed indoors these days. Although I am sure that in the colder states that the big boys, Coke and Pepsi have heaters in their machines and there is a computerized thermostat inside that will turn off the refrigeration system and turn on the heating system.

The same way a refrigerator in the garage does.

All vending machines must have a thermostat just like in our homes(our heaters allways maintains room temperature whether it is cold or hot outside). The same way, all vending machines maintains a controlled temperature that wouldnt make the sodas go freeze.

vending machines have both heaters and coolers inside. When its cold weather the owner switches to the heated option thus keeping the drinks cold but not cold enough to freeze.

The vending machines I’m familiar with, in Pennsylvania, don’t protect items from freezing, other than the insulation that is designed to keep things cold. If a can of soda freezes, which it may, it will just thaw out when it gets warm again. I don’ t think that they have a heating system or will prevent sodas from freezing.

You probably didn’t know, but there’s a dude blowing on the cans to keep them warm when it’s freezing outside.
