Pharmacy Won’t Sell Me Condoms !!!?

Im 14 and went into a local pharmacy to buy some condoms but the woman behind the counter insisted I had to be 16… My argument was , that buy denying me the sale she was promoting unsafe sex but still no sale..
i found this on the internet which proves i was in the right :
Condoms are free from your local youth or family planning clinic and some doctors. Or you can buy them at a local chemist, shop, supermarket, petrol station or vending machine even if you are under 16.
Is there anything I can do to get her to sell me them ?

A retailer retains the right to refuse service at their own discretion to any potential customer. Even though you are right legally, the only grounds you could use would be if this was racially motivated, and even then it would be a mess taking it to court. Just as a thought, why dont you have a 16 year old friend buy them for you? Or, just try another pharmacy.
PS….I do agree with you and commend you that you want to use protection.
Best of luck to you and I hope this helps

Talk to the manager or something. It is illegal for them to refuse to sell you condoms. Or just go to a different store if you can.
Screw all these people saying you are too young, I give you credit for at least being smart enough to be safe about it.

Go to the corner gas station! If the attendant is cool he will sell you some!

You can make your own with a few items from around the house. Use your imagination!

Tell me who that woman is. I’ll be certain to make her sell you condoms. All this world needs is more idiotic teen-aged Brits!

  6. karateka Says:

Your right they should sell you condoms , but then again you are to young to even think about having sex I’m sorry do you want the responsible to get a girl pregnant then take care of it.

Screw em, go to wal mart

  8. SmokeyD Says:

At 14 you are too young to have sex. Keep it in your pants you little kid.

You could raise a complaint, or just go somewhere else. But I agree, she is promoting unsafe sex .. you dont need to go to a pharmacy, you can buy them at grocery stores even. That woman is prolly trying to stop young ppl from having sex, which is comendable. But 14 is waaaaay to young to be having sex. condoms arent 100% effective so unless you are ready for children, you are not ready for sex.

it is just their store policy but i would suggest that u wait to have sex until u r older u dont want to mess your life up at such a young age good luck with your decision i hope u make the write one

  11. jackie Says:

You should be ashamed of your self. Sex isn’t a game for children. People used condoms before the birth control pill. They are called parents now.

Well, a business has the right to do business with (or not do business with) any person they choose at any time. As long as it wasn’t for reasons that are explicitly forbidden within the law (racial / religous discrimination depending on your locale) you don’t have any recourse. It’s stupid of them, but there are a lot of stupid people in this world.
It’s a good thing that you are trying to practice safe sex, but 14 is way to young. Since you are going to be doing it either way though, why not ask someone who is over 16 or even just give your money to the next person heading into the store and ask them to buy them for you? You might need to ask two or three people, but just don’t ask people who look like stuck up prudes.
Or, just use a bathroom in a gas station that has a dispenser on the wall. Your local health department will also probably give them to you for free or for a low cost.
Regardless of what it says on the internet about you buying them, they don’t have to sell them to you if they don’t want to. Around here, some stores won’t sell a lighter to you unless you show ID that you are over 18 – there is no reason for it, but that’s just the policy of the store.

No it is there right to refuse sales to anyone . You want condoms go to your parents and ask them for a box.

  14. crazi3 c Says:

you’re right, but 14 is pretty young for sex =/
wait like two years or for a really long relationship

You called it a Pharmacy we call it a Chemist in the UK I think your in the US.
If your in the UK go to a supermarket its more convenient less personal.
Free in Family planning. If you can get an appointment.
If this is a UK chemist she may be Catholic and wont handle contraception sales.

I would start off with reporting her to whoever is over the pharmacy. In the meantime, go elsewhere to buy them but make sure someone sets her straight.
