What Happens When A Vending Machine…..?
Random question, i know, but, i have to know. Do you know what happens when a vending machine runs out of nickels? I mean, if you buy something that costs 85 cents and put in a dollar, but there are no nickels in the machine, what would happen? Thanks.

It would give you a dime, and you would have to call the number posted on the machine to request your nickel.

If it is a rather new machine the machine will only accept exact change if it senses the nickels or any other coin runs out.

It says “use exact change” by means of a red light. Then, it waits for you to insert sufficient change, or press the coin return button, or insert more than enough coins such that it may be able to make change.
If you insert $1.10, and it’s out of nickels, but has a quarter, it will give you the quarter.
