or any other type of business? What type of classes would that program offer? Would it help he get a small business loan if I had the degree or would that not even matter?

Business Administration
Business Marketing
Business Management
Finance
All of these majors should have basic business classes like communications, accounting, math, marketing, management, computer applications, etc. which are all valuable in owning a business. I dont’ think it really matters if you have a degree or not whether you would be accepted for a small business loan, but I recommend getting your business degree if you can. You certainly don’t need a college degree to be sucessful, but the information you learn in your college courses will be invaluable for your future and business endevors. Also, if you ever decide to change jobs and work for someone else, you’ll be glad you have that degree. Good luck to you!

Agree on the Business/Management degree. If you are going to run a bar/restaurant, you might want a business degree in hospitality.
As for the loan, most of the decision will come down to how well you write your business plan/proposal. The decision will really depend on whether you set out the case that you can make money. Start doing your research now on how to write a business plan and when you are ready, it should be a breeze.

Business
It would probably make a huge difference when getting a loan because any yahoo can say they want to start a business, but if you actually have proof that you know what you’re talking about and have put the time in to give yourself a good foundation, banks would be much more willing to trust you.

get your *** out there and graft!
first of all work in a successful business you want to have your own business in and watch exactly what formula they use!!!
if you get a business degree the only thing you will do is work for someone else.
i would suggest a book keeping course, just so you understand the basics of business.
more money in! less money out! = profit!!!!
the 3-4 years you waste in college, you could have made your 1st million!
good luck!

In your business plan to apply for a small business loan, you stand a very good chance to get the loan approve quickly, if you are a degree holder.

You should get a Business and Management degree.
And if you want to open businesses, then make sure you don’t go into debt getting the degree!
